The Maryland Science Center honored five Patterson Park Charter School educators as 2024 Outstanding STEM Educators and awarded senior Tylah Allen the Dr. H. Bentley Glass Scholarship. The awards, which honor scientific research, teaching excellence, and academic achievement, were presented at a ceremony at the Maryland Science Center last month.
The Outstanding STEM Educator award recognizes elementary or middle school Maryland educators who demonstrate a focus on hands-on, inquiry-driven teaching that engages students in developing creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving skills. The award was introduced in 2018. The Dr. H. Bentley Glass Scholarship, established in 1965, is awarded to a Baltimore City public high school student who intends to pursue post-secondary STEM studies.
