Sidewalk decorated by chalk in front of Francis Scott Key Elementary School

Dear Baltimore City Public Schools (City Schools) Community,

At Baltimore City Public Schools, our first priority is the safety of our students, families, and staff. As we have seen a recent increase in anonymous threats posted on social media platforms, please know that we take these matters very seriously and thoroughly investigate each one. Any student involved in such unsafe actions will face consequences outlined in the City Schools' Code of Conduct and local, State, and federal laws.

We urge our students and community members to report threats or concerns to their school, City Schools Police, or the Baltimore Police Department. Contact City Schools Police at 410-396-8588 and 410-396-8589 or the Baltimore Police Department Telephone Reporting Unit (TRU) at 410-637-8849.

Our school communities depend on your vigilance and partnership to ensure schools remain safe and welcoming for all. Parents and guardians, we urge you to review responsible social media use with your students and monitor their online activities. If any student or family member needs support, we are here to help. You can talk to a trusted adult at your school or refer to City School's Health Services.

The State also offers Safe Schools Maryland - an anonymous and free reporting system to report any school or student safety concerns, including mental health concerns. Safe Schools Maryland operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. Submit your anonymous report by calling the tip line (1-833-MD-B-SAFE / 1-833-632-7233), completing it online at https://schoolsafety.maryland.gov/Pages/Tipline.aspx or downloading the free Safe Schools Maryland app from the App Store or Google Play.

Your support is invaluable in keeping our schools safe, welcoming, and thriving centers for learning and success. Thank you for being part of the City Schools family.
